On November 2nd, the reporter learned from the Municipal Natural Resources Bureau that after nearly two years of construction, the 791 meter coastline restoration project at Dolphin Bay Beach on Guishan Island has been completed recently. After expert evaluation, the project passed the handover acceptance smoothly.

It is understood that Guishan Island is the most developed and populated island in the Wanshan Islands, attracting numerous tourists to visit the island every year. Due to the long-term lack of maintenance and management, as well as the long-term combined effects of adjacent quarries' artificial dumping and filling of gravel, coastal waves, tidal currents, and wind power, the Dolphin Bay beach is in a mixed state of sand and gravel, resulting in poor tourism landscape quality; The lack of beach shoulders in the middle and northern sections of the coastline affects the normal use of the beach; The water depth near the shore is steep, and there are safety hazards for tourists to enjoy and play in the water; There is a certain amount of windblown sand accumulation on the waterfront roads, steps, etc.

At the beginning of last year, the Dolphin Bay Beach Restoration Project on Guishan Island was approved. Under the overall coordination of the Municipal Natural Resources Bureau, the Dolphin Bay Beach Restoration Project on Guishan Island fully leverages the advantages of joint construction between the province and the city in terms of funding. By applying for a special provincial financial ecological restoration fund of 16 million yuan and fully driving local financial supporting funds of about 31 million yuan, the project has been completed and implemented; In terms of supporting the project promotion work, relevant leaders of the Municipal Natural Resources Bureau have participated in several special meetings such as the feasibility study, preliminary design, and special fund acceptance of the Dolphin Bay Beach Restoration Project. At the same time, actively carry out on-site supervision and inspection to study and solve difficult and blocking problems.

Through the joint efforts of the city, district, and town, the project has overcome difficulties and completed the restoration of 791 meters of beach coastline in the past two years. The restoration of 32000 square meters of beach area, 220000 cubic meters of reclaimed sand, the construction of 76 meters of south submerged embankment and 434 meters of east submerged embankment, as well as warning lights and buoys, has been successfully accepted and delivered for use.

It is reported that the implementation of the Dolphin Bay Beach Restoration Project on Guishan Island has effectively made up for the shortage of beaches in the coastal tourism resources of Guishan Island, providing high-quality coastal tourism and leisure space for local residents and tourists, expanding the hydrophilic space for tourists and the public, and enhancing the overall ecological, social, and economic value of Guishan Island, effectively promoting the coordinated development of island tourism development and ecological construction.

The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Natural Resources Bureau stated that the next step will be to continue guiding Guishan Town to continue to do a good job in beach management, shoreline stability monitoring, and other later work, providing more good experience for the implementation of our city's coastal ecological restoration project.
